SAVE OUR SAILING CLUB
On the 8th. April our Commodore received a phone call from our local Councillor Phil Edwards informing us that the Assets
Management Group (who have not yet met) has had a recommendation from the County Valuer that they sell over half of our boat
park which the Asset Management Group will have to consider. Our job through Phil Edwards is to persuade the Asset
Management Group not to accept this recommendation. The sale of this land would deprive from the people of  Rhos on Sea over
half of our boat park which we have occupied for 50 years. Land which was generously  donated for the local people to be used
for leisure by Victor Wilde (click for newspaper article April 1962) pre his death in 1966 at the age of 79. They intend to sell this
land to developers for the purpose of building flats. We cannot survive as a sailing club if  the council sell this land.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
All club members will be sent a letter with a petition form inside please do your best to get signatures. On the advice of our
Councillor Phil Edwards we need Ten Thousand Signatures and Fast. Give them to your local shop, place of work anywhere
you think you can get signatures. As well as signatures you can e.mail Phil Edwards with a letter supporting us. We already have a
few letters sent from sailing clubs a school and other people in high position but we need more. The more the better.
Below are a few links you can click on. If you don’t feel comfortable e.mailing Phil Edwards you may e.mail The commodore or
Phil Schofield. Or any member of the committee. Also you may read the press release, Boat park under threat letter and download
extra copies of the SAVE OUR SAILING CLUB petition.
